I’m happy to announce that today is my cover reveal for A Beginner’s Guide to Invading Earth! This Booktrope-published novel will be out in October. The book took two years to write and my editor and I finished in December, 2014. My team has been working on this release since the beginning of the year and the cover designer Greg Simanson did a great job with this, putting up with suggestions and tweaks to produce the finished product. Thanks also go to Cassandra Metcalfe, the project’s Book Manager.
A good cover needs a single, strong element that will speak to the tone of the book. Since most see only a thumbnail of a cover, that element needs to be clear. These days many shop for books and read them on their phone so the screen sizes that will see a cover can be tiny indeed.
I liked the design we ended up with with our friendly fellow walking a lonely highway because it speaks to the story’s science fiction and humor elements without giving anything away. And the headlights in the background hint of things to come…
I hope you like it too! I’d be tickled to death if you find it good enough to share.
